I can't believe we only have a few days left. I know I don't want it to end yet. We are still keeping very busy and taking in many sites. Today we went to the Chinese Gardens located on the west side of the island. It is a place for people to come free of charge and enjoy nature. The first area we went to was a bonsai exhibit. It was interesting to see how many different trees can be shaped into a bonsai tree. Some were in pots, planted in the ground or growing in rocks. Mar and I enjoyed the Chinese Zodiac Garden. This is the year of the Rat. Marlene and I were born in the year of the Ox. Its characteristics really fit the two of us. Liam & Graeme, Sean and Sean's father and grandfather were all born in the year of the Dog. It is supposed to be good luck to have 3 or more generations born under the same sign.
Our last stop in the Garden was to the Live Turtle and Tortoise Museum and they had many varieties of live ones too. Liam and Graeme liked looking at them in the tanks. We also walk out onto a bridge and feed the turtles in the water. It was a frenzy of turtles climbing on top of one another to get to the food we were tossing in the water. Graeme enjoyed feeding them but when they started walking on the bridge we were on Liam was a bit fearful. From feeding turtles we went to the Koi pond and fed the Koi fish. Once again we had a feeding frenzy.
Graeme has a cold so we decided to stay indoors this afternoon.
Tuesday--August 12th.
One of the highlights of the day however was our ride on the Singapore Flyer. It is a giant observation wheel with 24 capsules on it. The six of us got our own capsule and up we went. The trip takes 30 minutes and is moves so slowly you are unaware of it moving. Graeme once again adjusted quickly and was going from one end to the other pointing things out to us. I have been on the Eye in London so I was quite comfortable and Marlene did fine. Sean is the one who doesn't like heights. He took video from inside the capsule and we took many pictures. When the ride ended and Liam realized it was over he started to cry. He wanted to go back up.
Liam is really enjoying this.

The evening ended with a very special treat. We went to the Raffles Hotel to have a drink at the famous Long Bar. It is where the Singapore Sling was first made, so our first drink had to be one, of course. We sat and talked a while and when the band started to play we went up the spiral staircase to check them out.
Mar threatened to slide down the banister!
Wednesday---August 13
We are still on the go and oh what a day it was. At 8:30 in the morning we were in the car and on our way to the zoo for the Jungle Breakfast. We also got to watch the Elephants take a bath. I was quite surprised when they submerged themselves completely. For 5 Sing dollars we could feed them a basket of fruit. Graeme the fearless had them taking food with their trunks right from his hand. Liam preferred to watch.
At the breakfast buffet they brought out a baby python which the trainer brought to our table and Tiffany touched it. Later you could get up and have your picture taken with it....Liam loved it as you can tell from the pictures. You could go have your picture taken with the two Orangutans which we did. After breakfast we went through the part of the zoo we didn't see before. We saw tigers, hippos, kangaroos,baboons and more. We have to say it is one of the best zoos in the world. We were home for lunch and nap. Playtime outside with Grandma and Aunt Mar was baseball, bumper cars and basketball.
Liam went back twice to pet the snake!
Graeme wasn't interested in getting his picture taken.
